What accident and sickness cover is

Accident and sickness cover pays a monthly amount for up to three months per claim if an accident or illness stops you working. It’s simpler and quicker to arrange than full income protection, and it exists for the people the standard market tends to make difficult.

Good to know

No medical questions

You won’t be turned down or loaded for an existing condition. As long as you’re symptom-free, or you’ve held the policy for 18 months in the case of illness, cover applies.

No occupation loading

Scaffolders pay what accountants pay. If you work in a trade and have had some eye-watering income protection quotes, this is largely why this product exists.

It can start paying after two weeks

Standard income protection usually has a minimum four-week wait. This one starts at two.

You choose the parts

It’s modular. Income benefit, fracture cover, accidental death, family add-ons. You take the pieces that are useful and leave the rest.

Looking for something longer-term?

This is short-term protection, capped at three months a claim. If you’d rather have cover that lasts until you’re properly back on your feet, however long that takes, income protection is the one to look at.
